Out of Control

PC Game


A game made in about 2.5 hours for the "Patch Notes v1.0" game jam. It was a game jam where broken mechanics/ideas are supposed to be features, so this game revolves around the idea of 'broken control', where your controls don't work as expected and they keep changing everytime you score.

Gameplay is simple, you collect the orbs to score and keep the game going. However each time you collect an orb, the controls get messed up.

Note (1): As it was a very quick-and-dirty work, many of the parts of this project need some work. I do have plans to work on improving the game balance and adding some more features (such as obstacles and power ups).

Note (2): Although this is a simple project, I’m including it here to show a 'functional' work that was completed under the pressure of a very tight deadline (only ~2.5 hours of work, and I successfully submitted 7 minutes before the deadline).


Implemented Features: Control randomization; random spawning the orbs (using a single object that resets and changes location within a given range to save resources and maintain optimal performance); game mode that handles scoring, timer and game over; a quick-and-dirty HUD and main menu (if you call that a menu); a direction pointer to guide the player.
