Tears & Bullets: 1971
 

Tears & Bullets: 1971 is a first-person shooter game for PC, based on the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh; The game mainly focuses on the story mode, where the players take part in epic battles as (fictional) freedom fighters.

My Contributions (summarized)
  • Conceptualization & Research
  • Gameplay and game mechanic development (with C++ and Blueprints)
  • Built the fully custom first-person system (including procedural recoil, aim down sight, weapon sway, custom camera manager etc.) to meet the specific needs of the project.
  • Character AI development (enemies and friendlies) with Custom AI controllers, Behaviour Trees with custom BT_Tasks/Services/Decorators, Environment Query System (EQS) with custom EQ Generators.
  • Implemented various types of weapons (e.g., automatic, semi-automatic and bolt action) and explosives (e.g., grenades, mines, explodable items like oil drums/vehicles etc.)
  • Developed a custom damage system that applies damage based on different conditions such as hit area, weapon/bullet type, gear being used (e.g., armours, helmets) etc.
  • HUD and UI design and development
  • World Building and utilizing techniques like level streaming
  • Building a custom narrative system (i.e., mission logic, event triggers, in-game cutscene integration etc. based on certain conditions and so on) to support the story-driven vision of the game.
  • Overall Performance Optimization
  • Cinematic creation using Level Sequencer
  • Coordination and collaboration with the team members; to develop, share and communicate visions efficiently with needed tools like storyboards, diagrams, prototypes etc.
  • Researched and utilized different tools and technologies to implement project requirements within a very limited budget, small team size and time constraints

*Please note that, there have been many major updates since the publicly released "Pre-Alpha Footages" video (from Dec 2022), however almost none of those have yet been publicly made visible for the sake of the project. But I listed those tasks here as I worked on those.
